Permanent seminar for doctoral students of the ULL

Communication presentation

Mandatory during the 1st, 2nd and 3rd year for full-time students; 1st, 3rd and 5th year for part-time students. 1st or 2nd semester.

This scientific meeting will feature presentations of papers prepared by doctoral candidates. Thesis supervisors and/or advisors, as well as other members of the research team for the research area to which the thesis belongs, are welcome to attend. Through these presentations, doctoral candidates will share the preliminary results of their research with the other participants.

Required during the first year for full-time students; first and second year for part-time students. Dates: first semester

This course aims to equip students with the skills to search for, obtain and process information, as well as develop skills related to quality scientific research, so that they can build their profile as researchers.

Inter-university Seminar on Philosophy

Communication presentation

Mandatory during the 2nd year for full-time students, or the 4th year for part-time students. 1st or 2nd semester.

A joint scientific meeting of doctoral students from the five universities, as well as members of the different research teams, in which the doctoral students will present a paper directly related to their research. International experts collaborating with the Program may be invited to this conference.

Scientific communication in research in Philosophy

Assistance and performance of activities

Required during the 2nd and 3rd years for full-time students; 4th and 5th years for part-time students. Required, 75 hours. 2nd semester.

This training activity, designed for students in the Philosophy doctoral program, aims to develop advanced skills in scientific communication. Its objective is to equip doctoral students to present, disseminate, and transfer their research findings in diverse academic contexts. The activity will include practical training in oral and written communication within an academic setting, the preparation of a publishable academic paper for a specialized journal, and the development of a scientific communication.

Stay at a Foreign Research Center
  • Number of hours: At least one quarter
  • Description:
    • Justification: Research stay for doctoral students at a foreign university or research institute relevant to the development of research. Objective: Obtaining a doctorate, international mention.
    • Contents: Training in the thematic area of your research in a foreign center
  • Learning outcomes:
    • Understanding and deepening of the field of study specific to your research
    • Perfecting a second language.
  • Frequency (time planning): First and/or second semester, second or third year
  • Language: Specific to the chosen Research center
  • Other clarifications: Activity aimed at research fellows
  • Control procedure: Final report submitted to the thesis director
  • Mobility actions and criteria: Funding for stays will be covered by the Ministry or Autonomous Communities' calls for University Teacher Training and Research Personnel Training scholarships, in addition to any other scholarships the Doctoral Program may obtain. Mobility regulations of the UMU and the different participating universities

Language improvement
  • Description
    • Justification: Activity aimed at those students who do not have sufficient language skills to develop their Doctoral Thesis
    • Contents: Language Course at the University's Language Service
  • Learning outcomes: Improvement of linguistic competence in a second language relevant to your research
  • Frequency (time planning): First and/or second semester, first year
  • Language: German/French/English/Italian/Portuguese
  • Control procedure: Course completion (and thesis director's control)
  • Mobility actions and criteria: Mobility regulations of UMU and the different participating universities
