Mathematics is developing as a basic scientific discipline, as a language of science, and as a necessary tool for modeling reality. Mathematics underlies any advancement in engineering, finance, science, and information technology.
This program will provide students who choose these studies with an appropriate scientific level, preparing them for a highly competitive future. This will open numerous doors for them in the workforce and will also enable them to pursue master's degrees in various fields of science.
The qualification is recommended for those who have completed scientific mathematics in high school. It is also recommended, but not required, to have completed physics. It is also recommended that students have English proficiency at the high school level or equivalent.
In this sense, the degree in Mathematics is designed to welcome students with a capacity for abstract reasoning and problem-solving, in addition to the essential work ethic, dedication to study, and a passion for mathematics and statistics. The desirable profile, therefore, is a student with a passion for mathematics, a capacity for abstraction, a capacity for concentration, and a capacity for work.
The career prospects for these graduates are very attractive, as their studies are highly versatile, with applications in multiple fields such as astronomy, business administration, quality, production and R&D, finance and banking, IT and telecommunications, engineering and technical, marketing, communication, education, research and mathematical modeling in the analysis, resolution and implementation of computer problems in various fields of basic, social and health sciences, engineering, finance, etc. They also work in multidisciplinary teams in companies, industries, banks, technology consultancies, research groups, etc. These graduates possess knowledge and skills that can be applied to any productive, scientific, industrial, economic, social, entrepreneurial or creative activity.
