Associate Professor in the field of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology since 2000. She teach in the Bachelor of Pharmacy (Biopharmacy and Pharmacokinetics, Clinical Pharmacokinetics, Radiopharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology) and postgraduate studies as the Master in Biomedicine in the subjects of » Preclinical Evaluation of Drugs ” and “ Biomedical Methodologies ”. In addition, she have collaborated (2008-13) in the Master in «Pharmacology, Development, Evaluation and Rational Use of Medicines» from the University of the Basque Country in the subject “Use of radioactive tracers for investigation».

She is member of the Biomedical Technologies Institute and the Biomedical Research Center of the Canary Islands. Her research is established in the field of controlled / targeted drug delivery systems development and evaluation. Her main lines of research have been: development and characterization of nano and microparticulated systems for the controlled release of peptide and non-peptide drugs; processing and characterization of 3D structures for tissue engineering; animal model development for the evaluation of bone and cartilage regeneration; characterization of the release and biodistribution of substances by radionuclide labeling; protein and nano- and microparticle labeling with other radionuclides. In recent years, these lines of research have converged in the design, manufacture, characterization and evaluation in animal models of biodegradable systems/structures activated by the incorporation of cells and/or growth factors for bone and cartilage regeneration. She has co-directed 7 doctoral theses and numerous undergraduate projects. Currently she co-direct another two theses. Her most relevant scientific findings are collected in about 50 articles published in high-impact journals. This research has been funded with public funds and, to a lesser extent, with private funds through the signing of research agreements with industrial partners. She has recognized 4 six-years research. She has acted as reviewer in different scientific journals. She is co-inventor of a national patent and inventor of another international patent. She has done several research stays at The Welsh School of Pharmacy, University of Cardiff, UK, The School of Pharmacy, University of Nottingham, UK and the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences Karl-Franzens, University of Graz, Austria. In recent years she has collaborated with numerous Spanish research groups of the Universities of Zaragoza, Santiago de Compostela, Basque Country, Cantabria, Navarra and also outside Spain as the University of Nottingham and University of Graz. She has been supervisor scientist in two laboratories belonging to the SEGAI unit at ULL, the «Radioisotope Laboratory» (2003-07) and the «Laboratory for Characterization of Particles and Microsurfaces ” from its creation in 2005 to 2015, having managed its equipment and function and in charge of the theoretical and practical course “Density, specific surface and porosity in characterization of materials, processes or pharmaceutical systems ” for the R&D department of Laboratorios Esteve (Barcelona-2011) thanks to an agreement.
