This mobility is aimed exclusively at doctoral students from the University of La Laguna who wish to carry out a research stay (Traineeship modality) in universities in African countries that are partners of the Erasmus+ KA171 project. LeadAfrica.

He The LIDERAFRICA project is a consortium international mobility integrated by the universities of Cádiz (UCA) -coordinator-, Huelva (UHU), Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) and La Laguna (ULL), together with Casa África.

If you are enrolled in a PhD program at ULL, you can apply for a grant to carry out a research stay of between 2 and 5 months in one of the consortium's partner institutions in Africa.

Application Process (LIDERAFRICA Consortium)

The selection of outgoing students is carried out directly by the University of La Laguna.

  1. Institution search and supervision: The first thing you should do is contact a university partnered with the project and find a researcher willing to supervise your work. You will need a Invitation Letter signed by the destination institution (Annex III of the call for applications).
  2. Application at ULL: You must submit your application through the ULL Electronic Office, within the established deadline.

Documents to be submitted:

  • Official academic certification of the degree with which you gained admission to the doctoral program (only in the case of studies not completed at the ULL). The grade point average must be included. 
  • Letter of acceptance from the host university. It must be signed and stamped, specifying the period of stay (start and end dates). 
  • Language proficiency accreditation. 
  • Proof of bank account ownership

Specific requirements

To participate in this call for applications, you must meet the following requirements:

Academic requirements

  • Be an officially enrolled doctoral student at the university during the current academic year.
  • Have the research plan approved by the Academic Committee of the corresponding Doctoral Program.
  • Obtain an official letter of invitation from the receiving university or center that confirms your acceptance.
  • Comply with all the specific requirements established in the terms of the call for applications.

Language requirements

  • A minimum level of B1 in the working language of the destination institution (usually English, French or Portuguese) is required.

Student visa

It is the student's sole responsibility to obtain the necessary visa for entry and stay in the African country of destination. The University of La Laguna (ULL) will issue the scholarship recipient's credential to facilitate this process, but you must begin the application process at the corresponding embassy/consulate as far in advance as possible.

Sure

It is mandatory to have insurance that covers health assistance, accidents, repatriation and civil liability for the entire duration of your stay.

Applications will be canceled if students do not have insurance coverage at the time of starting their mobility.
