Erasmus+ KA171 LiderÁfrica – Incoming

This mobility is aimed exclusively at students from African partner universities participating in the Erasmus-KA171 project LiderAfrica.

He The LIDERAFRICA project is a consortium of international mobility made up of the universities of Cádiz (UCA) -coordinator-, Huelva (UHU), Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) and La Laguna (ULL), together with Casa África.
If your home university is a partner in this project (see the List of Erasmus+ KA171 LIDERAFRICA agreementsIf you have been selected, you can carry out your mobility at the University of La Laguna as one of the host institutions of the consortium.

Application Process (LiderÁfrica Consortium)

The application and management process for this call is centralized by the University of Cádiz (UCA), as the coordinating entity of the consortium.

  1. Selection at Origin: You must participate in your home university's internal application process and be selected. You must prepare all your documentation (Learning Agreement, passport, etc.) and submit it to your university.
  2. Nomination and Application Submission: Your home university submit your complete application (including Annex II – Nomination and your Annex IV – Apprenticeship Agreement) to UCA before the deadline. This nomination must include the University of La Laguna as a host institution.
  3. Academic Review and Acceptance (ULL):
    • The UCA receives the documentation and checks that it is complete.
    • Next, the UCA sends your file to the ULL for your review.
    • The ULL (the international office and the academic coordinators) carries out the academic assessment of your application (review your Learning Agreement, check the availability of places and, if you are a PhD student, confirm the supervisor's acceptance) and issue the acceptance.
  4. Final Resolution and Letter of Acceptance:
    • The ULL communicates the acceptance to the UCA.

Finally, the UCA (as coordinator of the consortium) issues the Letter of Acceptance Official. You will receive this document so you can begin the process of applying for your visa.

Language Requirements

  • Minimum level of Spanish required: B1 CEFR (mandatory for Bachelor's and Master's students, according to Annex II).
  • Doctoral Students (Research): If the research stay will be conducted in another language (e.g., English), a B2 certificate in that language may be accepted. next to the invitation letter from the ULL supervisor (Annex IV).

Student visa

Since you come from a country outside the European Union, you will need to manage your student visa at the Spanish consulate or embassy in your country. The Letter of Acceptance is essential for this procedure. Start the process as far in advance as possible!

Postgraduate Students (Master's and Doctoral)

Master's Students

  • You must choose your subjects from the ULL master's programs and complete them in your Learning Agreement.
  • If you can't find suitable master's subjects, you can choose courses from 4th year of Degree.
  • Important: The KA171 study stay No It allows the completion or defense of the Master's Thesis (TFM).

Doctoral Students (Research Stays)

  • Doctoral stays must be of Internship (Traineeship) to conduct research.
  • Is mandatory contact in advance a professor/researcher at ULL who agrees to supervise your stay.
  • You will need to submit the Annex IV (Research Proposal and Letter of Invitation) signed by your supervisor at ULL as part of your application.

Financing of LiderÁfrica

Unlike European Erasmus+ mobility, the KA171 LIDERAFRICA program grants are managed and paid for by the destination university of the consortium.

The Erasmus+ KA171 grant consists of:

  1. A travel assistance (calculated according to the distance band between your home university and the ULL).
  2. A monthly living allowance (a fixed amount stipulated by the Erasmus+ program).
