Erasmus+ internships (SMT) facilitate an internship abroad in a company, research institute, laboratory, organization, or any other workplace located in one of the Erasmus+ participating countries. The host organization can be any public or private organization active in the labor market or in the fields of education, training, or youth. This includes companies of any size, universities, research centers, non-profit NGOs, etc.

The chosen internships must fit the profile and training objectives of the degree pursued by the applicant, with hours of 25 to 40 hours per week.

The duration of the long-term mobility period ranges from 2 and 12 months. In the case of doctoral students, short-term practical training stays are permitted, ranging from 5 and 30 daysIn any case, such mobility must be to be held within the 2025-26 academic year and can only be carried out once all obligations have been fulfilled established in the bases of the call and after the publication of the final Resolution of the award of aid.

Requirements

  • Tuition valid in official undergraduate, master's or doctoral degrees in 2025/26 and until the end of the stay.
  • Accreditation of the level of language required in the apprenticeship agreement signed by the host institution.
  • Nationality Spanish or from an EU Member State or another country participating in the Erasmus+ programme, or a residence permit in Spain during the mobility.
  • Staying up to date on compliance with tax and social security obligations.
  • Have a minimum of 60 days of Erasmus mobility within the same study cycle. For short-term doctoral mobility periods, the minimum number of available mobility days will be 30.

Mobility characteristics

Complete a period of practical training tailored to the profile and training objectives of the degree studied, in schedules of 25 to 40 hours per week.

Modalities:

  • Curricular practices: as a subject External Practices, which you must enroll in and comply with the specific requirements and restrictions of each ULL center or section.
  • Voluntary internships: additional internships to increase experience while maintaining enrollment in the degree program.
  • Internships as a recent graduate: internships within 12 months of receiving the degree (must be requested in the last year of enrollment in the degree program).

Duration:

  • Short duration (doctorate only): between 5 and 30 days
  • Long lasting: between 2 and 12 months.

Start: They may begin once the final resolution of the award of aid has been published and after fulfilling all the obligations of the call, except for the curricular internships, which must begin from September 1, 2026.

End: no later than July 31, 2027.

Limit: The sum of Erasmus mobility periods (studies and traineeships) within the same study cycle (Bachelor's, Master's or PhD) cannot exceed 12 months, except for Medicine or Pharmacy, whose maximum is 24 months.

Any public or private organization active in the labor market or in the fields of education, training and youth, including companies of any size, universities, research centers, NGOs, etc., located in the EU or in countries associated with the Erasmus program.

The ULL does not assign internship positions. Students will be responsible for finding and contacting companies of interest. The following resources are offered as guidance for the search:

Language accreditations

You must request recognition and inclusion in your ULL file of the language level specified in your learning agreement through the electronic headquarters:

  • If you have a language certificate but it does not appear in the “My languages” menu of the ULL Portal
  • If you have taken and passed any of the Specific tests of the Language Service for the Erasmus+ call

You do not need to have accredited language proficiency to submit the application. To be eligible for one of the grants, you must submit this application for recognition no later than the deadline for submitting the apprenticeship agreement.

When and how to apply?

Term: Application deadline: From April 22 at 9:00 until May 6 at 23:59..

Where: Through the procedure Erasmus+ program for outgoing students (internships) from the ULL electronic office.

Required documentation:

  • Academic certificate if the qualification for access to master's/doctorate was not obtained at ULL.
  • If a learning agreement signed by a host institution is not available, it may be submitted later, within either of the two established deadlines:
    • Within 10 working days from the day following the publication of the final list of people admitted and excluded from the procedure.
    • Until October 30th.
  • Language proficiency accreditation through the electronic headquarters It must be done within these same timeframes.

Financing

Individual help

  • Long-term mobility (2-12 months): 936 euros/month (maximum 3 months).
  • Short-term mobility (5-30 days, PhD only): 79 euros/day (up to day 14) and 56 euros/day (from day 15 to 30) + 100 euros (mobilities up to 14 days) or 150 euros (mobilities longer than 14 days)

Travel expense support

Depending on the distance between the ULL and the destination institution.

  • 100-499 km: 211 euros
  • 500-1999 km: 309 euros
  • 2000-2999 km: 395 euros
  • 3000-3999 km: 580 euros
  • 4000-7999 km: 1188 euros
  • 8000 km or more: 1735 euros.

The payment will be made 80% of the individual aid, for the dates declared in the Learning Agreement, and of the travel expenses before the mobility (after completing all the required documentation).

He 20% remaining It will be paid upon return, after verifying compliance with all obligations.

Allocation of aid

To guarantee the principles of inclusion, diversity and equal opportunities of the Erasmus+ program, a group with fewer opportunities has been established for those who meet any of the following conditions:

Obligations of beneficiaries

1. BEFORE THE STAY

 Accept the assigned position and aid

  • Submit the Grant Agreement electronically (deadline: 10 business days from publication).
  • Do not start the mobility without having formalized this document → automatic cancellation.

 Take out compulsory insurance

  • Coverage: RC, death, disability, repatriation, medical expenses.
  • Upload receipt to electronic headquarters.
  • It is recommended to apply for the European Health Insurance Card.

Negotiations with the destination institution

  • Carry out procedures and meet requirements demanded by the institution.
  • Failure to comply with them does not entitle you to a change of destination.

Certify the language

  • Required level according to the MCERL.
  • Submit within the same period as the Learning Agreement.

Test OLS (Online Linguistic Support)

  • To assess progress in the practice language.

Registration at the secretary's office

  • Curricular internships: enrollment in “External Internships” or “Practicum”.
  • Voluntary internships: regular registration.

2. DURING THE STAY

Certificate of arrival

  • Upload to the electronic office within 5 days of incorporation.

Minimum stay

  • 2 months (except PhD).
  • Early departure without justification → full refund of aid.

Interruption due to force majeure

  • Communicate immediately via electronic headquarters.
  • Provide supporting documentation for evaluation by SEPIE.

Legal and health regularization

  • Comply with immigration regulations and notify the Spanish Consular Mission of arrival.
  • Follow current health recommendations.

Emergency protocols

  • Follow the ULL instructions for international mobility.

Completion of the internship program

  • Comply with the standards of the destination center.
  • Exclusive dedication to the practices.

Responsibility

  • Students are responsible for their actions during the mobility.
  • The ULL is not responsible for any damage caused.

Other obligations

  • Those indicated by SEPIE or funding institutions.

3. AT THE END OF THE STAY

Closing documents

    The certificate of stay cannot have an end date later than its issue date → the date of the document will be used.
    • Final report (“After the mobility”)
    • Deadline: 10 business days after completion.
