Financial aid for undergraduate and master's students at the University of La Laguna to undertake external internships (curricular or extracurricular) in organizations or institutions located in non-EU countries.
The program aims to complement academic training through university cooperation for development, while improving the student's employability and professional skills in an international context.
The priority areas for the stays are in Africa and Latin America, where the priority countries for the Cabildo-Acción Exterior and the University of La Laguna are located:
- Priority 1: Senegal, Cape Verde, Gambia, Mauritania, Algeria (Sahrawi refugee camps), Colombia, Ecuador and Cuba.
- Priority 2: Ghana, Sao Tome and Principe, Equatorial Guinea, Guinea Conakry, Ivory Coast, Brazil, Mexico and Uruguay.
Students from the ULL who meet the following requirements may apply for these grants:
- Be enrolled in official courses of Bachelor's or Master's Degree at ULL during the academic year of the application and maintain enrollment during the stay.
- Have a Social Security number.
- Demonstrate the language skills required by the receiving entity.
- Obtain acceptance from the host organization to carry out the internship.
- Having assigned tutors, both at ULL and at the receiving entity.
Documentation and Application
Applications must be submitted through the ULL Electronic Office within 15 working days from the day after the publication of the call summary in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC), through the Electronic Headquarters.
Required documentation to accompany the application:
- Personal academic certification of undergraduate studies (only if they were not completed at ULL)
- Supporting documentation that shows the training and accredited experience in development cooperation and social volunteering.
- Letter of acceptance from the receiving institution or entity.
- Document accrediting the language level requested by the receiving entity, if applicable.
- Letters of commitment from the people who will assume the tutoring of the internships in both institutions (origin and destination).
- Work plan to be developed at the host institution.
Obligations of beneficiaries
- Before the stay
- Registration at the secretary's office
- Curricular internships: enrollment in “External Internships” or “Practicum”.
- Voluntary internships: regular registration.
- Manage the internship agreement and the internship program
- Initiate the process of drafting the corresponding internship agreement with the host organization, preferably using the template provided in the Annex II.
- Process the international internship program, according to the provided model Annex III.
- Visa.
- Obtain the appropriate visa that will allow you to legally stay in the destination country.
- Take out compulsory insurance.
- Take out an insurance policy with coverage abroad and for the same duration as the stay, which must include medical insurance, civil liability insurance, death and disability insurance due to accident, assistance in case of repatriation of the deceased and reimbursement of medical expenses due to accident.
- Registration with Social Security.
- Participate in the activities organized by this Vice-Rectorate to highlight university cooperation actions for development.

- After the end of the stay
- Certificate of stay
- Submit the following to the electronic headquarters: certificate of stay within 15 days of the completion of the internship.
- Final report (“After mobility”)
Submit the internship certificate issued by the organization, in the following format Annex III (last page) within 15 days of the completion of the internship.
