MEXICO AND THE UNIVERSIDAD DE LA LAGUNA
For the first time, in this 2022 edition, Campus América supplements its general activity with the American continent with specific projects of wider scope, such as the design of international dual degree programmes and the creation of a network for “virtual exchanges” or “mirror classes” for teaching. To this end, Mexico has been chosen as the guest country.
Mexico is the ULL's most intensive research partner country. Currently, we have 19 signed agreements with Mexican institutions, plus another nine in the process of renewal. Eight of them have specific research agreements, among which stand out, for the longstanding nature of the collaboration, those in Organic Chemistry with the Veracruzana and Yucatán universities and, by quantity, those in Computer Science, with Autónoma de Nuevo León, Panamericana, Monterrey.
Nine of the agreements feature study mobility annexes, which mainly generate an incoming flow of students. In 2019, the last year of “normality”, we received mobility students from six Mexican universities: Universidad Autónoma de Aguascalientes; Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla; Universidad Claustro de Sor Juana; Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México; Universidad de Monterrey; Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Most of our teaching staff have academic ties with a Mexican counterpart. Proof of this is that 80% of the seminars proposed for the activity programme include teaching staff from Mexican universities.
Current agreements with MexicoFinally, Mexico has a substantial, ongoing and internationally attractive cultural heritage and production, which brings relevance and interest to the cultural offering for the ULL community and the island of Tenerife.
For all these reasons, many events of the 2022 edition of Campus América will feature or be related to Mexico. To make them easier to locate, in the «Programme» section they will be marked with their country's flag in the title (??).
