Campus América 2024

Campus América

Universidad de La Laguna (ULL) has been celebrating Campus América for more than seven years, with the aim of strengthening academic, cultural, and social ties with the American continent. Under the slogan 'A sea of shared knowledge', since its first edition in 2017, it has offered a unique setting for the exchange of experiences and the promotion of new projects between universities, organisations, and non-governmental organisations. Edition after edition, relations with other institutions and society have continued to grow, in order to strengthen the mutual transfer of knowledge for the better development of the Canary Islands and the Americas.

Since the 2022 edition, efforts have been made to disseminate knowledge of a specific country, highlighting its wealth in all areas. On this occasion, Campus América 2024 is dedicated to Ecuador as the guest country, with prominent figures from the political, academic, and cultural spheres attending the event with the aim of strengthening mutually beneficial relations for both territories.

From 9 October, Independence Day of Guayaquil in Ecuador, to 18 October 2024, a wide variety of activities will take place in the city of La Laguna: institutional, academic, cultural, and recreational. This has been made possible thanks to the involvement of public institutions from the Canary Islands and Tenerife, international bodies, and businesses.

50 universities and research institutes from 17 countries have come together to share their experiences and knowledge, highlighting the internationalisation of Universidad de La Laguna (ULL) and the importance of academic collaboration in a global context. Financial support is provided by 4 sponsoring organisations, while 24 collaborating organisations contribute to supporting the delivery of the various scheduled activities.

Regarding the cultural programme, Campus América includes 12 cultural activities, promoting diversity and intercultural understanding among participants. The academic dimension of the event, featuring 5 institutional panel sessions and 27 academic seminars, will address key topics. In total, 186 speakers will participate in these activities, sharing their expertise and perspectives across different fields of study.

These quantitative indicators highlight the scale of Campus América and its capacity to bring together a wide range of stakeholders from different sectors and countries, consolidating its position as a vital forum for intercontinental dialogue and cooperation.

The outcomes of Campus América will contribute to the Internationalisation and Cooperation of universities in the Canary Islands and the Americas, helping to build inclusive and diverse societies.
