OBJECTIVE, SCOPE AND ORIENTATION
The objective of Accadere is the universal dissemination of knowledge derived from high-quality scientific research focused on historical-artistic studies. It accepts unpublished and original contributions of national and international authorship that are not under review in other journals. These may be written in Spanish, English, Portuguese, and Italian. It covers all areas of historical-artistic studies from any geographical region, from Prehistory to the present. As a consequence, Accadere is addressed both to authors and to a broad readership, ranging from highly specialized scholars to readers interested for personal reasons in the topics addressed by the journal.
PERIODICITY
Accadere publishes two annual issues, scheduled for December and June.
The respective temporal coverage of the issues is as follows:
First semi-annual issue: December–May
Second semi-annual issue: June–November
The deadline for submitting originals for the December issue ends on July 31; and for the June issue ends on March 31.
PEER REVIEW PROCESS
Accadere relies on a broad team of specialized external reviewers who collaborate with the journal in the manuscript evaluation processes. All texts received by Accadere are subject to a double blind peer review process, which aims to guarantee the anonymity of all parties involved, as well as the participation of the most qualified evaluators for each submission.
Once a manuscript is received, within a maximum of two weeks, it is assigned to the handling editor, who will manage and supervise the review process and will be responsible for assigning the manuscript to at least two external reviewers specialized in the subject.
Within a maximum of three weeks, reviewers will provide:
-
comments for the editor only, and
-
comments for the author and editor, always safeguarding anonymity.
They will then submit a final recommendation, selecting one of the following options:
Accept
Accept with revisions
Resubmit for further review
Reject
Upon receiving the evaluation, the author shall send the revisions within a maximum of 10 days, which may be accepted or not and/or be submitted to a further review round. The final acceptance decision lies with the editor of Accadere, and will be communicated to the author via the OJS platform. The peer review process may last up to three months from the start of the first review round.
ANTI-PLAGIARISM POLICY
Plagiarism is understood as any misappropriation, misuse, or substantial verbatim copying of another person's work presented as one’s own. Self-plagiarism, referring to the publication of previous work as if it were new research, is also considered plagiarism.
Accadere applies a rigorous procedure to ensure the originality of the manuscripts received and to prevent any form of plagiarism.
The procedure is divided into two phases:
Phase One, managed by the Editorial Team, reserves the right to use the Turnitin service to detect any form of plagiarism or self-plagiarism. The procedure is as follows:
-
The Editorial Team will submit the manuscript to Turnitin analysis before sending it to the double blind peer review stage.
-
If plagiarism is detected, following the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines, its nature and extent will be assessed to make a decision regarding the manuscript.
-
In cases of serious plagiarism, meaning long passages copied verbatim, the author will be informed of the rejection of the article and the prohibition to submit another manuscript to Accadere for 12 months.
-
If the report shows short copied phrases without evidence of appropriating extended ideas, the author will be contacted and requested to resubmit the document with correct citation, naming the original author and incorporating the reference in the bibliography.
-
Once the new version is received, the Editorial Team will submit it again to Turnitin. If no plagiarism is detected, the article moves to the review phase; if plagiarism persists, the article will be rejected, and the author may not submit another manuscript for 12 months.
Phase Two:
– During the peer review process, reviewers may use Turnitin or other open-access tools.
– If plagiarism is detected, reviewers must report it clearly.
– Upon receiving a supported report of plagiarism, the Editorial Team will proceed as outlined in points 3, 4, and 5 above.
– The Editorial Team will accept only two (2) self-citations of the author within the manuscript.
– If more than two (2) self-citations are detected, the author will be informed and must submit a corrected version within 10 working days. After this period, the manuscript is considered withdrawn.

Accadere provides open access to all its contents, in line with the institutional commitment to the universal dissemination of knowledge.
