Evaluation and quality

Mission, vision and values

Mission

In accordance with the University Statutes and the mission that our Institution has determined for itself in its Strategic Plan: the main mission of the Library is to facilitate access to and dissemination of bibliographic and documentary information resources, helping the university community in the process of transforming information into knowledge, thus contributing to making the ULL the “EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY OF THE ATLANTIC, an open teaching and research institution, which is a preferred destination for students and researchers from all over the Canary Islands and the Atlantic area, while aiming to achieve a high degree of integration of its members into the most prestigious networks of scientific and educational exchange.”

Vision

The team and the main users have collectively built a vision for the future of the service: an innovative library with fully satisfied users, reorganized according to the evolution of its services, and which continues to defend the quality of public services:

Library as a meeting point and reference
The library is increasingly becoming a space filled with users who work collaboratively with diverse resources, and less and less a place for individual consultation. The library is conceived as a point of reference for the entire university community due to its academic and cultural significance, and its prestige is based on the quality of its services and its attention to its users.

New cooperative and versatile spaces
As an academic and cultural hub, it requires a reorganization of the existing spaces. Alongside quiet areas, it will offer collaborative workspaces, as well as areas for rest and leisure. These versatile, multipurpose, flexible, and adaptable spaces will have extended hours and offer resources geared towards creativity (maker spaces), collaborative work within the university community, and social integration.

Personalized services
The library will offer personalized services for its diverse user base to better support teaching, learning, research, and other activities. These services will also be accessible to people with disabilities.

A more technological and digital library
Technologically efficient services and spaces accompanied by human touch; adapted to technological changes, with a good WIFI network, and a useful, friendly, accessible, attractive, innovative website that is fully accessible from mobile devices.

Reorganized and trained staff for a 21st-century library
A professional and continuously trained staff to meet the diverse needs of users. A reorganized staff in its new spaces and services, renewed, trained, and recognized professionally and financially at the levels required by a 21st-century library.

More collaboration between the Library and teachers and other services
The library will be more integrated into teaching and research activities, collaborating more closely with the teaching and research staff, and with other university services (ICT, Research, etc.).

A library more open to society
The University of La Laguna Library, as a cultural space for society, offers a continuous program of cultural activities and a digitized historical collection accessible to all citizens. It is a library that works closely with ULL graduates and collaborates on projects with its academic, cultural, and social community. It fosters partnerships and leverages opportunities to secure funding for its development. The library also provides training for citizens to help them thrive in the knowledge society.

Library with greater reach and communication
Users and the public will gain a better understanding of the library's spaces, services, and activities thanks to improved internal and external communication. This will be achieved through the library's technological resources and partnerships with educators, service providers, and the community.
