Research data repositories

Scientific research and communication processes are generating an ever-increasing volume of data. Datasets, under open licenses, can be shared privately with specific colleagues or made available to the entire world, enabling the reuse of scientific knowledge and the exponential growth of studies and research. Science improves and expands, and discoveries are made more quickly when data is shared. Furthermore, organizations and governments are increasingly demanding that the research data they fund be made publicly available.

The portal Mendeley Data It was created to help the scientific community achieve these goals: this platform is an open repository of research data, where it is possible to publish, share, and make it available to the research community.

The platform allows researchers to upload raw data from their research, obtaining a unique identifier (DOI or FORCE11). This enables them to link the data to journal websites, allowing them to view the article and the entire research dataset associated with it.

Mendeley Data is a free service and the datasets are under open licenses.

If you already have a Mendeley account, you can use Mendeley Data without any further requirements. If you don't have one, you can easily create a new account for free.

Zenodo is a general-purpose, open-access repository developed under the European OpenAIRE program and operated by CERN. It allows researchers to deposit research articles, datasets, research software, reports, and any other research-related digital artifacts. For each submission, a persistent digital object identifier (DOI) is generated, making the stored items easy to cite.

To upload data to Zenodo, you only need to create a free account.
