Center/title commissions

It is chaired by the Dean, who may delegate the presidency to one of the vice-deans. Likewise, the Secretary of each Section Board will be the person holding the Faculty's Secretary, or the person designated by the Dean.

It has a minimum number of members that allows its constitution, respecting in its composition the proportion between the different sectors established by current regulations: 51% of members belonging to the teaching and research staff with permanent affiliation, which will include those who exercise the Direction of the departments with at least 25% of their teaching in the Section and are members of the Faculty Board; 9% of teaching and research staff with non-permanent affiliation; 30% of members representing the student sector and 10% of representatives of the administrative and services staff; who will be elected by their respective sectors from among their members on the Faculty Board who have been elected by the corresponding electoral constituency. In all cases, they must be members of the Faculty Board.

The Faculty Board delegates to the Section Board powers that relate exclusively to matters of interest to the Mathematics Section. The Board shall also be responsible for the consideration and resolution of any other matter expressly delegated to it by the Faculty Board, subject to the exceptions set forth in current regulations. The Science Faculty Board meetings shall report on the resolutions adopted by the Mathematics Section Board held previously. The Plenary may revoke the delegation at any time, thereby reinstating the exercise of the delegated powers.

 

 

The composition of the Degree Committee for the Mathematics Degree will be agreed upon by the Mathematics Section Board at the beginning of each academic year. It will be chaired by the Vice-Dean responsible for the degree and will include the Vice-Dean with responsibilities in quality, and representatives of the Teaching and Research Staff, the Administration and Services Staff, and the students of the degree.

It is the responsibility of the Degree Committee, in the field of the Degree in Mathematics:

a) The definition, approval and coordination of the Faculty's actions in relation to teaching.
b) The organization of the teachings to be imparted in the Faculty in order to obtain the academic qualifications contemplated in its study plans.
c) The determination of the standards for the implementation and development of the study plans.
d) Approval of the teaching guides for the subjects of the degree.
e) Ensure effective compliance with the principle of freedom of study and continuous assessment provided for in Article 8 of the Internal Regulations of the Faculty of Sciences.
f) Any other matter of academic organization submitted to it by the Plenary Session of the Board, by simple majority, or assigned to it by the aforementioned Regulations.

The members of the Degree Committee are appointed each year at the first Mathematics Section Board meeting.

According to article 7 of the Regulations for the Recognition, Adaptation and Transfer of Credits from the University of La Laguna, in each faculty and University School a Technical Committee for the Recognition of Degree Credits must be established. It must be made up of the dean and secretary of the faculty who will act as President and Secretary, respectively, and four members who must be university professors, civil servants or contracted with permanent links, who will belong to at least two different departments that have been assigned to teach basic and compulsory subjects of the degree/s of the center. They will be appointed by the Faculty Board and the duration of the mandate of the members of the committee will be two academic years.

The Technical Committee for Credit Recognition must report on the applications submitted for recognition, transfer and adaptation of credits and subjects with respect to the degree qualifications assigned to the faculty, which will be resolved by the dean or director. The Technical Committee for Credit Recognition of the center will meet in ordinary session at least once each quarter of the academic year, and in extraordinary session when called by the President on his own initiative or at the initiative of a quarter of the members of the Committee. The committees may request the reports or technical advice they consider necessary in order to resolve the applications submitted.

According to the nineteenth article of the Regulations for the management of external internships for students at the University of La Laguna The Professional Guidance and External Internships Committee, or equivalent, provided for in the Internal Quality Assurance System of the centres, will also assume the academic functions related to the curricular external internship subjects. To this end, its composition must include a representative of the management team and the teaching staff responsible for the curricular external internship subject of each of the degrees taught at the centre, or, where appropriate, by the coordinator of these subjects. This is without prejudice to other members provided for in the Internal Quality Assurance System or those who, in the opinion of the dean, should form part of it.

According to the report of the Degree in Mathematics, this committee is responsible for defining the objectives, content and requirements related to external internships. It is also responsible for the search and selection of companies and institutions with which to establish agreements, planning and management of the internships and developing student guidance actions.

Furthermore, according to article twentieth of the Regulations for the management of external internships for students at the University of La Laguna, this committee will have the following academic functions:

  • Ensure the information contained in the Teaching Guides for the External Internship subject of each degree assigned to the center, urging the departments that have been assigned the teaching task of this subject to keep them updated.
  • To act as an intermediary between the entities, organizations, companies or work centers where external curricular internships are carried out and the students enrolled in this subject.
  • Maintain constant and fluid communication with tutors at external centers for the proper planning and implementation of external internships.
  • Ensure that the completion of curricular external internships for the centre's qualifications complies with the provisions of the corresponding Teaching Guides and that the assessment is carried out in accordance with them.
  • Resolve any incident related to the development of curricular external internships by the center's students.
  • Develop and apply the criteria for assigning students to the entities in which they will carry out their curricular external internships. These criteria will be objective and will guarantee, in all cases, the principles of transparency, merit, publicity and equal opportunities, and must be included in the course guide for this subject.
  • The assignment to each department of the students it is responsible for tutoring, based on the ECTS credits of the external internship subject that appear under its responsibility in the corresponding study plan.
  • Inform the center's Quality Committee about quality aspects related to the External Practices subject.
  • Provide assistance to the Technical Committee for Credit Recognition of the center in issuing the report on the applications for recognition of extracurricular external internships made by the center's students, as well as on the recognition of work experience as credits for curricular external internships, for the purposes of the provisions of the Regulations for Recognition, Adaptation and Transfer of Credits of the University of La Laguna.
  • Supervise and/or coordinate the extracurricular internship offers organized by the center responsible for the degree.

The teaching of the TFG subject is organised by the Mathematics Final Degree Project Committee, which is made up of the PDI members of the Degree Committee. It is chaired by the subject coordinator. In particular, it is responsible for regulating and assigning the TFG offer by the areas involved in its teaching, establishing evaluation protocols, appointing tribunals, and setting deadlines and calendars for the presentation of documentation or defence.
