It is understood by credit recognition the acceptance by the university of the credits obtained from previous training/experience, for the purposes of obtaining an official degree. 

In accordance with Royal Decree 822/2021, of September 28, which establishes the organization of university education and the procedure for ensuring its quality, the University of La Laguna developed its Regulations for the Recognition and Transfer of Credits at the University of La Laguna (RRTC-ULL). Article 6, section 1 of the RRTC-ULL establishes that “Between degrees in the same field of knowledge, basic training credits obtained in the original degree will be automatically recognized.”.

The Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics at the University of La Laguna, since its Non-Substantial Modification approved on October 27, 2025, is assigned to the field of knowledge of Mathematics and Statistics, Therefore, the automatic recognition of basic training credits will only apply to qualifications belonging to this field.

For the rest of the university degrees, the provisions of article 6, section 2 of the RRTC-ULL will apply, which states that “Credits for other subjects and courses between degrees within the same field of knowledge or different fields will also be subject to these procedures, always taking into account the criteria of academic and educational coherence set out in article 3.3”Thus, Article 3.3 of the RRTC-ULL establishes that“Credit recognition will consider the suitability of learning outcomes, always taking into account the academic and formative coherence of the knowledge, skills, and abilities that define the subjects or courses to be recognized with those existing in the curriculum of the degree program to which access is sought, and not the name, identity, or affinity between subjects and programs. There must be an equivalence of at least 75% of the learning outcomes, and specifically of knowledge, skills, and abilities, for a subject to be recognized.”.

For its part, the transfer of credits It consists of the inclusion in the academic record and in the European Diploma Supplement of all credits obtained in official studies previously undertaken, regardless of the university, that have not been recognized or led to obtaining an official degree.
