Incoming Erasmus+ students:
Mobility for studies

If you plan to study at ULL (University of La Laguna) as an incoming Erasmus+ student, please contact your home university and follow their instructions to be officially nominated as an Erasmus+ student at ULL.

Requirements

Bilateral agreement and nomination

Only students nominated by their home institution will be eligible for admission. The nomination must be in accordance with a current agreement between both universities for the student's level and field of study.

Language requirements

He Spanish It is the language of instruction at the ULL, and all our university services are offered primarily in Spanish. For this reason, all international students must be able to demonstrate their proficiency in Spanish.

  • Minimum level of Spanish required: B1 CEFR
  • Accepted certificates: DELE / SIELE / certificates issued by your home university
  • International students who do not have a Spanish certificate accepted They must complete a free 30-hour online course offered by the ULL.

Criminal Record Certificate

Students enrolling in the following fields of study must present a Criminal Record Certificate:

  • Medicine
  • Nursing
  • Physiotherapy
  • Internship courses in Education

Length of stay

The mobility period must be as specified in the bilateral agreement. All students nominated for Medicine must request the full academic year.

Sure

International students must provide evidence of insurance that covers at least the following:

  • Travel insurance (including damage or loss of luggage)
  • Liability insurance (including professional liability where applicable)
  • Accident and serious illness insurance (including temporary or permanent disability)
  • Death insurance (including repatriation).

Applications will be canceled if students do not have insurance coverage at the time of starting their mobility.

The European Health Insurance Card is also recommended.

Additional requirements for graduate students

The Doctoral and Postgraduate School (EDP) of the University of La Laguna (ULL) is interdisciplinary and encompasses all doctoral and master's programs in various areas of knowledge. It offers more than thirty programs in the areas of Arts and Humanities, Sciences, Health Sciences, Social and Legal Sciences, and Engineering and Architecture.

Our official Master's programs are taught at the university's different campuses. Exchange students are free to choose courses from our official catalog, provided there is a bilateral agreement between their university and the ULL, and after consulting with the academic advisors at their home university.


Our university also offers more than twenty doctoral programs. Incoming doctoral students can undertake a research period at the ULL, for which they must apply through the Erasmus Internship program, as our programs are not organized under the ECTS system.

Admission procedure

Master's Students

The International Master's Students Students from partner universities can come to the ULL as part of an organized study exchange. To undertake an Erasmus+ exchange period at the ULL, there must be a bilateral agreement between the corresponding departments of the partner institutions. To check if an agreement exists with the ULL, contact the Erasmus+ representative at your home institution.


To apply for admission to the Erasmus+ Exchange Program at the University of La Laguna, the Vice-Rectorate for International Relations makes available to you a complete guide and information.

If you wish to apply as a graduate student, please read and follow the guidelines carefully. instructions provided by the Erasmus office.

Once nominated by their home university, graduate students must select their courses from our master's programs to be accepted by the DGS. The course catalog is available at this link. link.

Graduate students who cannot find a Master's program related to their field of interest can choose undergraduate courses from the final year of any degree (4th year). You can combine Bachelor's courses (4th year) and Master's courses in the Learning Agreement.

Erasmus+ international students are not permitted to undertake internships during their stay.

Master's Thesis: International Erasmus+ students cannot be accepted to work on their Master's Thesis as part of their stay. For those students wishing to spend a research period at ULL It is mandatory to be nominated under the Erasmus+ Internship program.

Continuous assessment, based on course attendance, constitutes the main evaluation system/principle at the ULL. A minimum attendance of 80% is generally required for courses.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Applicants should be aware that some master's programs are in high demand and have limited student capacity. Therefore, not all Erasmus applications will be accepted.

The DGS must annually consult the academic committees of all Master's Degree programs to update information regarding quotas.

Due to its particularities, the Master's Degree in Marine Biology: Biodiversity and Conservation cannot accept Erasmus students.

Other master's programs, such as the Master's in Terrestrial Biodiversity and Island Conservation and the Master's in General Health Psychology, have specific requirements for accepting Erasmus students. Those wishing to apply for these master's programs should contact our International Mobility Coordinator. (movipos@ull.edu.es) before completing their Learning Agreements.

General language skills and requirements for graduate students

Spanish is the language of instruction at the ULL. Most of our university services are also offered in Spanish. For this reason, international students must demonstrate a level of Spanish proficiency, regardless of their nationality or country of residence. A minimum level of Spanish B1 is required for Erasmus+ international students.

The Spanish Courses for foreigners are offered by our Language Service, but they do not belong to any official program and, therefore, will not be included in it Student's Certificate of Studies. Please note that Spanish courses for foreigners do not must be included in the Study Agreement.

English requirements for international students: The minimum English level required for all ULL master's programs is B1. Most master's programs also have an English requirement, which may vary between programs. Specific English requirements are explained in each program. We recommend reading them carefully.

PhD Students

The PhD students Those who wish to undertake a research period at the ULL must apply through the Erasmus+ Internship programme.

They must contact a professor at our university who will agree to supervise their stay here, sign the Learning Agreement, and, upon arrival, arrange the necessary paperwork for the student to have access to our university facilities.

How to apply

Once your nomination is accepted, you will receive detailed instructions and a link to complete your application. You will also be assigned a Departmental Coordinator and a ULL Professor.

You must submit your application by the deadline using the link provided. Do not send requests by email.

Required documents:

  • National identity document or passport
  • Spanish B1 certificate. See accepted certificates. If you don't have a certificate, you must pass the free 30-hour online course offered by the ULL.
  • Online learning contract signed by the coordinator of your home university, through the platform of the Online learning contract or from your home university system. You can contact the Departmental Coordinator from your ULL to obtain a list of courses available for your study period.
  • Criminal record certificate (only if you choose to pursue the following degrees: Medicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy, and Educational Practices).

If your application is successful, you will receive an official acceptance letter by email. Do not make any travel or accommodation arrangements until you have received this confirmation.

Language Requirements

Do I need to speak Spanish to study at the ULL?

Yes. Spanish is the primary language of instruction at the ULL, and all our university services are offered primarily in Spanish. For this reason, you should be able to demonstrate your proficiency in Spanish. A minimum level of B1 in Spanish is required, or higher (B2/C1/C2) if specified in the Interinstitutional Agreement.

What Spanish certificates are accepted?

We accept official Spanish certificates from the Instituto Cervantes (DELE/SIELE), as well as certificates issued by the student's home universities.

I have a B1 level of Spanish but don't have a valid certificate. Can I be admitted as an Erasmus+ student?

International students who do not have an official Spanish language certificate (DELE/SIELE/certificates issued by their home university) must complete a free 30-hour online course offered by the ULL to be admitted.

Courses and Learning Agreement

Who is responsible for approving my Online Learning Agreement?

You departmental coordinator The ULL Departmental Coordinator is responsible for reviewing and signing your Online Learning Agreement. You will be informed of the name and contact information of your assigned departmental coordinator during the admissions process.

Will I be able to choose subjects from a different semester than the one I will be taking at ULL?

Unfortunately, this isn't possible. Courses are offered in the first semester (fall) or the second semester (spring), and some are annual. You can only choose courses that are taught in the same semester as your mobility period. If you are coming for the entire academic year, you should choose courses from both semesters or annual courses. Your ULL department coordinator can help you with course selection.

Please refer to the course catalog to find out which courses are available in the first or second semester, or for the full academic year.

Will I be able to choose courses from a different field of study than the one I have been nominated for?

Erasmus+ students are expected to complete at least 50% of their % courses in their designated area of study. The remaining courses can be selected from different degree programs, but please note that some may have additional restrictions. Therefore, it is recommended to consult with your department coordinator at the ULL to confirm if this is possible.

Where to stay in Tenerife?

Private housing

For students looking for accommodation, there are several advertisements for apartments and shared flats on the notice boards of the various university campuses. The Erasmus Office does not offer this service, so we cannot arrange for private accommodation.

Erasmus Play

Educational support needs

I have special educational needs. What support services are available at the ULL?

At ULL, we are committed to ensuring that all students, regardless of their individual needs, have equal access to education. Our Program for Students with Specific Educational Support Needs (PAED) offers a range of services to support students with disabilities (visual, hearing, physical, and mental) and/or specific educational support needs (SEN). During the admissions process, please inform us if you require any special support, so we can ensure you receive the appropriate services.

Registration and enrollment

How do I register at the ULL and obtain a Certificate of Arrival?

A Welcome Guide with registration instructions will be sent to all admitted students. Please note that online registration is mandatory for all incoming students, and your arrival boarding pass is required for this process. Registration period:

  • Fall/First semester: September – October
  • Spring/Second semester: January – February

International students are advised to arrive at least one week before the start of their studies. An arrival certificate will be sent upon registration.

How do I enroll in my OLA courses?

All Erasmus students must enroll in the courses listed on their Online Learning Contract (OLA) at the faculty indicated on their Erasmus certificate, which is submitted with their acceptance letter. A Welcome Guide with enrollment instructions will be sent to all admitted students.

Please note that any changes to your OLA will not automatically be reflected in your registration, so you will need to contact the Faculty Administration to update your registration accordingly.

Do I need to make a tuition payment?

The Erasmus+ students under 28 years old You are not required to pay any tuition fees, except for the student insurance fee of €1.12. Once enrolled, you will receive a payment card from your ULL faculty. Please note that courses will not be graded nor will an Accreditation Certificate be issued unless the insurance fee is paid by the deadline using one of the payment methods listed on the card.

 

The Erasmus+ students over 28 years old are exempt from paying tuition fees, but must register and will receive a payment card with a €0 amount.

What should I do if I have a problem with my course registration?

If you have any problems with your registration or enrollment, please contact the faculty administration immediately. They will guide you through making the necessary changes. If you need additional assistance, you can also contact your department coordinator.

During mobility

What should I do if I get sick or need medical attention during my stay?

If you need medical attention, you can go to any nearby public health center. Be sure to bring your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) or private insurance details, as they may be required to receive medical treatment.

How can I contact other international students in Tenerife?

The non-governmental youth association AEGEE Tenerife has a WhatsApp group to connect with other international students. They also organize the Buddy Program, where you can be assigned a local student to help you adjust to university life at the ULL.

End of mobility

How do I obtain a Certificate of Stay at the end of my mobility?

Once your mobility period has ended, you can request a Certificate of Residence from the International Relations Office. You will be provided with instructions on how to obtain it. Please note that you must present your departure boarding pass to receive the certificate.

There's a problem with my academic record. Who should I contact?

The ULL faculty where you are enrolled will send your academic transcript directly to your home university. Please note that this process may take up to five weeks after your official grades are added to your academic record. If you have any questions about your academic transcript, please contact the administration of your ULL faculty.
