Master's Degree in Regional Development

Support and guidance

The support and guidance made available to students once they have enrolled in the degree respond to what is stated in section 4.3 of the Degree Verification Report.

Once the student has been admitted to the Master's Degree, the Academic Committee will assign him/her a tutor who will be in charge of guiding and directing the student in his/her learning process, as well as assisting him/her in the administrative procedures of the Master's Degree. The tutor must guide the student in the design of his/her academic curriculum and actively monitor the development of his/her academic activity. The tutor, in addition to guiding the student in the general aspects of the Master's Degree, will inform him/her about the options offered and the infrastructures available to him/her. He/she will also inform the student of the projects in which he/she can be integrated to carry out the Master's final project. The tutor must hold regular meetings with the students he/she supervises to analyse the evolution of the learning process. To do this, he/she will draw up a tutoring plan in which he/she will record the activities planned throughout the academic year, issuing a report at the end of the year to be sent to the Academic Committee.
Within the proposed tutorial Action Plan, two horizontal activities will be incorporated:
a) Presentation session to students of relevant information about the Master's degree, once registration has been completed.
b) Presentation session of existing resources in the library and practical session for students to learn how to use the available electronic resources.

Through the different levels of tutoring-teaching coordination (Academic Director, Subject Coordinator, Master's Final Project Tutor, etc.) a direct and continuous relationship is maintained with students, which allows for the detection and diagnosis of causes of difficulties in academic performance and learning processes, and allows for the assessment of their scope and effectiveness, transferring them to the Academic Committee, where appropriate.

In addition to the existing structures at the centre level, the ULL has an Information and Orientation Service (SIO) aimed at informing, advising and guiding future students and the university community in general. The SIO has three different areas: an information area (scholarships and grants, university training proposals, procedures, rights and duties, deadlines and procedures, etc.), a Psychopedagogical Advisory Service and a Legal Advisory Service. The SIO can be accessed through the following link: link. Likewise, the ULL has the Program for Support to Students with Specific Educational Support Needs (PAED).
