The main objective of the Master's Degree, which has a clear research orientation, is to provide training that qualifies graduates, through a markedly practical and applied teaching, for their initiation into research and, at the same time, facilitate their insertion into a professional environment.
The Master's degree aims to provide students who are going to write their doctoral thesis with the skills needed by a research professional, as it includes subjects aimed at the most innovative and specific aspects of current interdisciplinary chemistry. In this sense, one of the general objectives will be the acquisition or updating of advanced knowledge in various aspects of chemistry in its multidisciplinary aspect, as well as the initiation into research.
The existence of these official research centres, as well as a growing number of large companies with research departments, makes it advisable to offer this type of training, which, in addition to a deep knowledge of the different branches of Chemistry, provides the necessary skills to carry out research and detailed studies in any of the different fields of application.
The aim is to train professionals who possess the qualities of a critical scientific spirit, practical skills in the laboratory, communication skills and teamwork skills that enable students to develop independently in their work environment. The Master's degree has been designed within the immediate socioeconomic environment in which graduates will find their place in the workforce.
On the other hand, the Master's degree has also been designed to update knowledge and provide lifelong training for chemical professionals from various sectors in different fields (quality, corrosion, new materials, etc.).
The Master's degree proposed here aims, on the one hand, to complement the training of future chemists who have completed the currently implemented Bachelor's degree courses, which are shorter than the previous Bachelor's degrees, and on the other, to introduce them to research activity and provide them with knowledge, skills and abilities related to Chemistry and linked to the new demands and requirements of a globalised market. Once the Master's degree has been completed, the student will have a wealth of knowledge and experience that will facilitate his or her entry into the field of research or his or her insertion into the world of work.
