Quality Assurance System

Presentation

Internal Quality Assurance System Manual, approved by the Quality Commission of the two Sections on February 5, 2015 and by the Faculty Board on June 30, 2015.

The Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication at the University of La Laguna (ULL) is currently committed to developing high-quality teaching and learning processes. Quality management of teaching and learning is geared towards achieving and maintaining the satisfaction of the needs and expectations of our students, society, and all other stakeholders involved in the life of the Faculty.

In order to promote the continuous improvement of the qualifications offered, it is considered necessary to establish an Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS) within it, which will allow the achievement, maintenance and improvement of the required quality standards with a view to facilitating its future accreditation.

The National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA) has established a procedure for the accreditation of official undergraduate and master's degree programs, based on the Internal Quality Assurance System. For future accreditation, those responsible for each implemented study program must demonstrate that they have an Internal Quality Assurance System (IQAS), that it has been deployed, and that its implementation allows for the analysis of deviations between what has been achieved and what was planned, in order to identify areas for improvement.

The design of the Faculty's SGIC has obtained a positive overall assessment from ANECA within the framework of the AUDIT Program, communicated in March 2010.

Thus, the SGIC guarantees that there is a system for collecting, reviewing and improving information on:

  • The objectives of each curriculum
  • Admission policies and procedures
  • Teaching planning
  • The development of teaching and student assessment
  • Actions to guide students
  • The academic staffing
  • Educational resources and services, and
  • Learning outcomes

In addition, there are consultation procedures that allow information to be gathered from graduates, employers or other relevant social groups, on the professional insertion of graduates, the training acquired (knowledge, aptitudes and skills) and the professional profiles or the needs for continuing training.

The Quality Manual (QM) is the basic document of the QMS that will be implemented in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication. It defines the general characteristics of the system, the requirements it must meet, its scope, and references to the generic documentation on which it is based or to the procedures that develop it.

The Quality Manual is complemented by a Procedures Manual (PM) which outlines the procedures for each dimension of quality management, including the documents referenced in the Quality Manual and the list of indicators that will allow for the measurement of the results of each activity planned within the Quality Management System. It also specifies the evidence generated as a result of its application, which serves as proof of its implementation or outcome.

The first of the MC documents is the quality policy and objectives of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication, prepared and reviewed as indicated in the corresponding procedure and approved by the Faculty Board.

Center Quality Policies and Objectives

Quality Manual

The Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication of the University of La Laguna has a formally established and publicly available Internal Quality Assurance System (SGIC), developed according to the guidelines proposed by the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA), through the AUDIT Program.

The SGIC consists of a series of documents such as the SGIC Manual, which sets out the foundations and scope of the SGIC, and includes the main elements that affect university education: Quality policy and objectives, quality assurance of training programs, guidance to students and development of teaching, academic and teaching support staff, material resources and services, training results, and public information on the training offer.

The SGIC documentation also includes the Procedures Manual (PM). The PM consists of a series of procedures that are in accordance with the "Criteria and guidelines for quality assurance in the European Higher Education Area," developed by the European Higher Education Quality Assurance Agency (ENQA) and adapted by ANECA.

Below are each of the documents that detail the different procedures that make up the SGIC:
