Admission and graduation profile

Admission profile

The favourable personal characteristics (sensitivities, aptitudes, capacities, etc.) and desirable academic characteristics that are considered most appropriate for beginning studies in Computer Engineering are the following:

  • Have basic knowledge of IT.
  • Know the fundamentals of mathematics, and have some numerical aptitude.
  • Ability to abstract, analyze, synthesize and logical reason.
  • Be curious, imaginative, creative and innovative.
  • Possess the ability to perceive and pay attention.
  • Have a sense of organization and practicality.
  • Have skills for oral and written expression, as well as reading comprehension.
  • Demonstrate basic social skills for teamwork.
  • Ability to read English.

In addition to the above, it is recommended that the training of students who wish to begin studies for the proposed degree be tailored to a scientific-technical profile. Thus, having solid knowledge, at the secondary and high school level, in mathematics and physics will facilitate addressing these subjects within the Basic Training in the Degree. Likewise, having acquired the usual skills provided in secondary education in reading comprehension of English will considerably promote the initiation in the use of bibliography in this language, a very common fact in Computer Engineering studies, as well as in the search for information through the Internet. Another of the favourable personal characteristics is having conventional skills in experimental laboratory activities that have promoted the concern, in addition to knowing, for “know-how”.
