Internships

Internships are an educational activity carried out by university students and supervised by the university. The aim is to enable them to apply and complement the knowledge acquired in their academic training, promoting the acquisition of skills that prepare them for the exercise of professional activities, facilitate their employability and foster their entrepreneurial capacity.

They may be carried out at the university itself or in collaborating entities, such as companies, institutions and public or private entities at the national and international level.

The student You must request your registration in this activity as a previous step to carrying out the practices, the only requirement being the have completed 174 credits, including all of the Basic Training and those corresponding to the Block of Technological Fundamentals of Computer Engineering, and a minimum of 18 ECTS from the Professional Practice Block, in addition to at least 24 ECTS from one of the contemplated itineraries.

The correct development of external internships requires the presence of an academic tutor from the University and another external tutor in the center where the activity is carried out:

  • He external tutor will supervise the activities to be carried out by the students, guide and monitor the development of the practices.
  • He academic tutor will ensure the normal development of the training project and will effectively monitor the students' external internships, coordinating this with the tutor of the collaborating entity.

All academic coordination is carried out through the virtual classroom of the subject in the Institutional Virtual Campus of the ULL.

The subject of External Internships in the Degree in Computer Engineering is a subject of the second semester of the fourth year. Most of the places will be offered in this semester, however, during the first semester some places will be offered (in a number lower than the number of enrolled students). These places are offered with the main objective of enabling the completion of studies to students who can attend the March session.

The development of the External Practices are organized into three modules:

Module I: Preparation.

This module will be developed during class time prior to the start of the External Internship. Its objectives are: coordination between the institutions and the people involved; and to make the students aware of the organization of the tasks and activities they have to carry out.

Module II: Practices and Monitoring.

In this module, the actual internships in companies will be carried out. In addition, face-to-face sessions will be held with the academic tutor to supervise the work carried out and exchange experiences.

Module III: Evaluation.

In this module, the evaluation of the External Internships is developed. With the advice of the academic tutor, the students will have prepared a report on the External Internships and will defend it orally.

The External Practices Committee is responsible for organizing the activities of the External Practices course. It is coordinated through a virtual classroom, where all the minutes and documents generated by it are stored.
