Master's Degree in Advance Pedagogical Studies

Access, admission and enrolment

Admission is the set of requirements necessary to study university studies. It must be fulfilled prior to admission to the studies to be undertaken.

Article 16 entitled «Access to official Master’s degree courses» of Chapter IV «Official university Master’s degree courses» of Royal Decree 1393/2007, of 29 October, amended in paragraph 1 by Article 9 of Royal Decree 861/2010, of 2 July, reads as follows:

  1. In order to gain access to official Master’s degree courses, it will be necessary to hold an official Spanish university degree or another degree issued by a higher education institution belonging to another member state of the European Higher Education Area which entitles access to Master’s degree courses in that country.
  2. Likewise, graduates from educational systems outside the European Higher Education Area may be admitted without the need to have their degrees recognised, subject to verification by the University that they accredit a level of training equivalent to the corresponding official Spanish university degrees and that they are recognised in the country issuing the degree for access to postgraduate studies. Access by this route does not imply, in any case, the homologation of the previous degree held by the interested party, nor its recognition for purposes other than that of studying for the master’s degree.

In addition, the University of La Laguna in compliance with the provisions of Decree 168/2008 of 22 July (Official Gazette of the Canary Islands No. 154 of 1 August) provides that for access to this master’s degree will be a prerequisite the accreditation of a B1 level of English.  Consult the documents recognised as proof of language proficiency. In addition, you can consult the following list of subjects that ULL and ULPGC, for the purpose of enrolment in a master’s degree at the University of La Laguna, involves the acquisition of a B1 level of English and exemption of subjects as an academic requirement that enables admission to Master’s degrees (to view the document, click here).

Please consult the following link for the list of official ULL undergraduate degrees whose completion recognises the achievement of foreign language skills (at least B1 level) and the list of subjects of the different official ULL undergraduate degrees whose completion requires foreign language skills (B1 level).

Admission is the awarding of places offered by the ULL for official university courses to those who, fulfilling the aforementioned entry requirements (Graduate and/or recognised foreign qualification and B1 in English), have applied for them.

Admission is carried out through the procedure established for this purpose in the ULL Regulations. Students must attach all the official documents accrediting the profile required for admission, their academic transcript and curriculum vitae, which will be used to assess their admission to the master’s degree in accordance with criteria of equality, merit and ability.

The body responsible for admission that will assess the applications will be the Academic Committee of the degree, whose composition is determined in article 30 of the Regulations on Official Master’s Degrees at the University of La Laguna. Article 31 of the aforementioned regulations states that the proposal for admission of students is one of the functions of the Academic Committee.

Students wishing to enrol on this master’s degree must have a B1 level of English.

Article 4 of the Decree of the Government of the Canary Islands 168/2008, of 22 July (BOC nº 154, of 1 August), which regulates the procedure, requirements and evaluation criteria for the authorisation of the implementation of university studies leading to the awarding of official Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate degrees, of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands simply states that ¿the project must foresee, in the context of the general competences of the degree, the knowledge of a second language, which will preferably be English at an appropriate level and in accordance with the needs of the graduates of each degree. It will be a requirement that at least 5% of the credits are taught in this second language. Consequently, English is not being included as a second language in the degree, since otherwise it would not have been authorised by the Canarian autonomous government at the time, as this is an aspect that is subject to specific evaluation in the protocol for the processing of degrees of the autonomous evaluation agency, the ACECAU at the time and currently the ACCUEE. For this reason, as in all official Master’s degrees at this University, students interested in taking these courses must have an accredited level B1 according to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
