LÍNEAS DE INVESTIGACIÓN
Estudiamos los mecanismos moleculares del mantenimiento del genoma. Nuestro objetivo particular es identificar nuevas enzimas que regulen la reparación del ADN mediante el control de las modificaciones postraduccionales de los componentes de la cromatina y otras proteínas en esta respuesta. Recientemente describimos los mecanismos moleculares de las ubiquitina hidrolasas USP7 y DUB3 en diversos aspectos de la DDR e identificamos funciones novedosas para los reguladores de la cromatina en la reparación del ADN y la recuperación de la detención del ciclo celular provocada por el daño del ADN. Los agentes que dañan el ADN se utilizan ampliamente en los tratamientos contra el cáncer, debido a su toxicidad para las células en proliferación, y la eficacia de los tratamientos antitumorales está determinada por la capacidad de las células para reparar el daño. Por lo tanto, se investiga el papel potencial de estas enzimas como una forma de modular el tratamiento contra el cáncer.
