Main Contributions of Vulgar Latin to Classical Latin from Lexicon under the “d” Entry
Abstract
The mechanisms that form Classical Latin language are very complex. From an analysis of the lexicon under the letter “d”, it is possible to identify some of the most relevant examples. Semantic doublets let us identify a lot of derivate words from neuter plural Latin words, which were assimilated to the first declension words. Among verbs, there are processes of simplification. With them, there are phenomena of phonetic origin -by their use- they changed the form of many of words.
