Editorial workflow

This editorial process aims to guarantee the quality and academic rigor of the content published in Fortunatae. This procedure is developed on the Open Journal System (OJS) platform and is structured in the phases described below.

Submission of Manuscripts by Authors

If authors already have an access account, they must log in with their credentials. If they do not have an account, they must register to obtain login details.

  • Once the submission is completed, the author responsible for the upload will automatically receive a notification or acknowledgment of receipt.

Preliminary Evaluation of the Manuscript

  • The Editorial Board of the journal will conduct a preliminary analysis of the received manuscript.
  • If the manuscript is considered suitable for publication, an editor from the Editorial Board will be assigned.
  • The editor will notify the author that their manuscript is eligible to begin the review process.

Peer Review

  • If the submission belongs to a section requiring anonymous peer review, the responsible editor will assign two or more reviewers who accept the completion of the review within the deadlines set by the journal.
  • Once the peer-review is completed, the responsible editor will receive a notification.
  • The reviewers will follow the criteria established in the Peer Review Policy.
  • Once the blind peer review is completed, the responsible editor will analyze the reviewers’ recommendations and decide:
    • Accept Submission: Ready to proceed without the need for an additional review.
    • Publishable with Modifications: Minor changes required, that will be notified to the author.
    • Resubmit for Review: Major changes needed, that will be subjected to another round of review, being notified to the author.
    • Not Publishable: Rejected being notified to the author.
  • If reviews provide conflicting recommendations, an additional review will be selected.
  • Once the reviews are completed, the responsible editor who monitors the process will confirm the recommendations of the reviews.

Author Revisions in Response to Reviewer Recommendations

  • If corrections are required, the author will submit a revised version, when required.
  • The Editorial Board will compare the revised manuscript with the reviewers’ recommendations.
  • If satisfactory, the responsible editor will accept the submission and notify the author, indicating the number and date when their article is expected to be published.
  • In the event that the corrections do not conform to what is indicated, the author will be notified, thus being generated a second round of evaluation, which will respond to the same previous process.

Editorial Phase Adaptations

  • Once scientifically validated, the manuscript undergoes stylistic and grammatical analysis.
  • Modifications may be suggested and discussed with the author.
  • After finalizing modifications, the manuscript moves to production.

Production Phase Adaptations

  • The journal’s layout and design team will create a pre-print version.
  • This version will be shared with the author before final proof production.

Publication

  • The article will be assigned to a specific issue.
  • A DOI will be assigned to the article.
  • The article will be archived in the institutional repository of the University of La Laguna.
