This article aims to analyse the theatrical version that David Stuttard published regarding th efamous comedy by Aristophanes’ Lysistrata. Considering the definitions provided by Lorna Hardwick (2003), it will be proposed a reading of David Stuttard’s play as an adaptation rather than a new version. In addition, the article will focus on the female characters in Stuttard’s play, as well as on the means used by the author to achieve the humorous aspect that characterises the play. Finally, there will be focus on the contemporaneity of this play and provide some critical assessment of it.
