Plagiarism Detection

Latente journal is firmly committed to detecting different forms of plagiarism. In particular, and following the recommendations expressed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), it takes special care to ensure that the texts received for evaluation are original and unpublished contributions, and that they have not been published in whole or in part in any scientific format, and that ethical behavior is guaranteed during all stages of the editorial process, so that the content and authorship of original works remain anonymous from receipt to the final stage of publication.

Contributions received undergo an initial review phase, carried out by the management team with the advice of expert members from the various fields who form part of the editorial board and the advisory committee, in order to detect, where appropriate, the existence of partial or total coincidences that are indicative of plagiarism.

To this end, the journal uses the Turnitin service, which is used by the University of La Laguna at a corporate level for this purpose.

If this fraudulent practice is found to have occurred, the work will be rejected immediately and the author will be informed of this circumstance.

In case of doubt, the author would be asked to prove that no fraud, even partial, has been committed in the writing of the work; and, in any case, they would be asked to correct what had been pointed out and resubmit their article so that it could be reviewed and the absence of plagiarism in the text could be guaranteed.

However, if, once submitted for evaluation, any of the reviewers detects an incident of this type, the appropriate checks will be carried out so that the journal's editorial board can make a final decision, which will be communicated to the author of the work through the channels provided for in OJS.
