Some reflections about the derivation and the diachronic perspective on its study
Abstract
The word formation is made up of regular morphological procedures whose results concern the lexikon, but with a clear grammatical nature. However, this linguistic domain remains incomprehensible without a diachronic point of view that contributes to the understanding of its current configuration. The increase of expressive possibilities with the different Spanish derivative procedures, the influence of loanwords and the persistence of irregularities compel us to introduce the history of the Spanish language to explain all these phenomenona.
