Internal Matrices by Affixation: an Inexhaustible Field of Study
Abstract
The aim of this study is to present one aspect of our research on neology in the media, namely the processes of affixation in contemporary French linguistic creation and their Spanish translation. A quantitative study —proportion, diffusion and perenniality— but also a qualitative study —analysis of a selection of terms— of this category of neologisms is proposed. As part of our project for a bilingual French-Spanish dictionary that aims at bringing together current neologisms present in the French media, this work follows on from our first study of external matrix neologisms, that is borrowings (Abraham and Gil Casadomet, 2021).
