Mediation and Counseling Unit for Coexistence

The Mediation and Counseling Unit for Coexistence has, among other functions, the responsibility to assist and support the cooperative resolution of conflicts in any area of university activity through dialogue, mediation, and counseling. The Mediation and Counseling Unit for Coexistence assists any individual or organizational unit belonging to the University of La Laguna (ULL) community in matters of conflict resolution. The Unit aims to offer support in conflict resolution within any area of the university community, based on three fundamental guarantees: transparency, confidentiality, and neutrality.

Services offered to the user

  • To request a service: The first option is to request a confidential consultation by phone or email without initiating any process, intervention, or leaving any written record. This way, you can confidentially receive advice on the alternatives and services offered by the Mediation and Counseling Unit for Coexistence. An appointment will be scheduled, which can be completed in person or by phone. The second option is to send an email with a service request, including: the applicant's information, a brief description of the reason for the request, and contact information: phone number and email address. In either case, all information is treated confidentially.
  • Study and training: We conduct studies on the incidence and characteristics of conflicts at ULL and promote training in conflict resolution for members of the ULL university community.
  • Advice: We inform, guide and advise individuals or organizational units of the university community on options and procedures for managing their conflict.
  • Mediation: We offer a confidential process to foster effective communication between participants, aiming to reduce hostility and help parties understand their own and each other's true needs and interests. This allows them to create acceptable proposals that resolve current problems, reduce emotional and social costs, protect relationships, and prevent potential future conflicts.
