Data Protection Officer

The Data Protection Officer ensures that personal data is protected within the University of La Laguna (ULL) as one of the fundamental rights and freedoms of individuals. This role was created by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which has been mandatory for all public administrations and certain companies since May 25, 2018. It is officially known as Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of April 27, 2016, on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC.

Services offered to the user

  • How to request it: By sending an email to dpd@ull.es. If the matter relates to a management unit, it is recommended that the message be sent by the head of that unit or, if necessary, by the person performing the corresponding technical functions, after informing the relevant organizational or functional manager. If the matter concerns a research group or project, it is recommended that the communication be directed to the principal investigator or their designated representative.
  • Supporting regulatory compliance: The Data Protection Officer provides support to guarantee the fundamental right to data protection and ensure compliance with regulations at the University of La Laguna. To this end, and in accordance with University procedures, the Data Protection Officer serves members of the university community who perform their duties at the University of La Laguna in administrative, teaching, or research roles, and in particular those responsible for faculties, schools, departments, research institutes, and the institution's governing bodies.
  • For the attention of interested parties: In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation, interested parties may contact the data protection officer regarding all matters relating to the processing of their personal data and the exercise of their rights.
