Conference on Housing and Property Registration

March 4-4:00 pm - March 12-6:00 pm

A series of four specialized sessions addressing the most urgent challenges of the Canary Islands real estate sector, bringing together renowned legal experts, judges, registrars and public authorities to analyze everything from housing diagnosis to technological innovations in property registration.
The first session aims to establish a diagnosis of the housing situation in the Canary Islands, presenting updated data on access, prices, and the population's actual needs. The second session delves into the legal framework governing housing, focusing on the important relationship between the Land Registry and the Cadastre and the progress made in their coordination. The third session addresses one of the most controversial and current issues in the Canary Islands' real estate sector: holiday rentals and their impact on the availability of affordable housing. This session is particularly relevant given the archipelago's reliance on tourism and the growing tension between tourism activity and the right to housing for the resident population. Finally, the fourth session will analyze the most relevant court rulings on the matter and present emerging jurisprudential trends. It will also explore the applications of artificial intelligence in land registry management.
A certificate will be issued upon registration.
Activity carried out by the Bienvenido Oliver Chair of Registry Law, Cajasiete and the College of Registrars.
