Ammonia has emerged as a promising candidate for an alternative fuel. It stands out for its high energy density, ease of storage and distribution, and the possibility of its production from renewable energy sources. It is currently considered an energy carrier that can address the challenges of the transition to a more sustainable and decarbonized energy system. In this context, direct ammonia fuel cells (DAFCs) are highlighted as an innovative technology for the direct conversion of ammonia through oxidation into products with zero toxicity. This approach offers significant advantages in terms of energy efficiency and reduced emissions of pollutants, making it a strategic process for research and innovation in clean and renewable energy.
