Exhibition: “Bartolomé García Lorenzo. 1976-2026: 50 years since a police murder”

September 22 - October 30

September 22, 2026, marks the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Bartolomé García Lorenzo (1955-1976), one of the victims of police repression during the Transition in the Canary Islands. The memory of Bartolomé has been marked by manipulation and oblivion. These fifty years have solidified a distorted narrative.

For this reason, the Archive of the Democratic Transition in the Canary Islands at the Library of the University of La Laguna will hold a commemorative exhibition entitled “Bartolomé García Lorenzo. 1976-2026: 50 years since a police murder” where the events will be recreated, an exercise in collective democratic memory will be carried out, the materials will be exhibited and Bartolomé will be given the place he deserves.

This exhibition will be open to the public from Monday to Friday until October 30th and guided tours will be organized from October 5th.

To participate, you must register at this form.
