The global challenge of climate change and dwindling natural resources demands innovative strategies that enable the closing of material cycles and the valorization of waste. This seminar will present advances in the field of sustainable materials and circular chemistry, demonstrating how waste streams from agriculture, the food industry, and electronics can be transformed into high-value-added functional materials. Examples include optimized biochar for soil restoration, biopolymer films for the controlled release of natural antifungal agents, and even conductive inks derived from recycled metals for applications in smart packaging. Beyond the laboratory, these developments highlight the importance of linking fundamental chemistry with applied solutions that address urgent environmental and industrial needs. In this regard, it is crucial to develop strategies that foster collaboration among academia, industry, and local communities, ensuring that innovation contributes not only to technological progress but also to sustainability and social impact.
