The University Extension Workshop «"Volcanic tourism in La Palma: the historic volcanoes of Fuencaliente"» It will be held on November 21, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. as part of the “La Palma Autumn University 2026”.

Goals:

-Introduce students to the diversity of geomorphological landscapes in volcanic areas.
-To provide students with basic tools for the design of new tourism products and experiences linked to places of geotourism interest in volcanic spaces.
-To learn about the volcanic resources on the island of La Palma for volcanic tourism.

The workshop consists of a field trip from the San Antonio Volcano Visitor Center in Fuencaliente to the Fuencaliente Lighthouse. During the field trip, students will complete a practical exercise to identify and select sites of interest for volcanic tourism.

This workshop is aimed at anyone interested in developing hiking activities linked to understanding and raising social awareness of territorial risks. It is intended for public officials and technical staff from public administrations responsible for the prevention and management of territorial risks; civil protection personnel; professionals in trail leading and heritage interpretation; individuals in training in all disciplines related to the prevention and management of territorial risks; teachers at various levels; and the general public.

CERTIFICATE OF ATTENDANCE AND COMPETENCE: The University of La Laguna, through the Vice-Rectorate for Culture and University Extension, will issue a certificate of attendance to all participants who register for the activity. In addition, those who pass the assessment will receive a certificate of attendance and completion.
