Seminar on Mathematical Analysis and Applied Mathematics 2026-2027

November 5 - 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The Department of Mathematical Analysis and the Institute of Mathematics and Applications of the University of La Laguna organize weekly Seminars on Mathematical Analysis and Applied Mathematics.

Place: Room 2.3, IMAULL (pumpkin building), University of La Laguna.

Date: Thursday, November 5, 2026, 3:00-4:00 PM.

Lecturer:  Francisco J. Cruz-Zamorano (ULL)

Qualification: LLMs and Mathematical Analysis: success stories.

Summary:

In this seminar we will discuss some recent success stories in the use of large language models (Large Language Models, (LLMs) to solve research problems in Mathematics, with a special emphasis on Mathematical Analysis. We will focus on two problems: one in geometric function theory, related to the Hayman-Wu constant, and another in operator theory, on the compactness of composition operators in weighted Hardy spaces. The aim is to offer an overview of the use and implications of these tools from the perspective of a junior researcher.
