María José Sánchez Barrena is a senior scientist in the Department of Crystallography and Structural Biology at the Blas Cabrera Institute of Physical Chemistry (CSIC). She leads the research group “PPI Modulation in Brain Disease,” where they study calcium signaling mechanisms in neurons to develop protein-protein interaction modulators with therapeutic potential in psychiatric disorders and neurodegenerative and neurodevelopmental diseases.
