The hidden riches that whisper and shout: everyone's personal library

April 24 - 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Within the project “The hidden riches that whisper and shout: Archives and Libraries” organized by the Department of Specific Didactics (Area of Didactics of Social Sciences of the Faculty of Education of the ULL) jointly by the Pedro Bencomo Cultural Chair, the last of the didactic visits will be led by Professor Juan Pedro Rivero.

This activity will consist of a visit to each participant's personal library, as everyone has books that have held special significance in their life. The aim is to share the hidden wealth of each participant's personal library in a dialogue forum that will help us recognize the importance of books for our holistic development. We will do this during an excursion or visit to Icod de los Vinos.

This way, we connect last year's educational itinerary, where we explored Art and Culture in the churches of La Laguna, with this year's itinerary, which focuses on Archives and Libraries. The culmination of today's visit is to the Museum of Sacred Art at the Church of San Marcos in Icod de los Vinos, which houses the monumental Silver Filigree Cross, a unique 17th-century piece (1665) considered one of the finest filigree works in the world, a blend of Mexican origin and Havana-style craftsmanship in Cuba.

Since another aim of the Pedro Bencomo Cultural Chair in this activity is to establish intergenerational and institutional links with local cultural individuals and entities, promoting networks of collaboration and participation, anyone interested can attend, after reserving a place by email to cpestano@ull.edu.es
