• To introduce students to the historical, cultural, scientific and educational relationships between the Canary Islands (University of La Laguna) and America, with special attention to the Canary Islands–Chile relations, taking advantage of the context of Campus America 2026.
• Analyze the main challenges and opportunities shared by island and/or extreme territories in areas such as sustainability, climate change, science and education.
• To promote an interdisciplinary approach to the relations between the University of La Laguna and Central/South America through participation in academic, cultural and outreach activities.
• To know and apply the principles of UNESCO's "Future Literacy" methodology, developing the ability to explore, question and build different visions of the future.
• Use prospective thinking tools to identify possible, desirable and alternative futures related to cooperation between ULL and South America.
• Develop critical thinking, creativity, analysis, communication and participation skills through debate and reflection on the topics covered.
• To promote an active attitude towards social, environmental, scientific and educational challenges, and to encourage the identification of opportunities for collaboration and transformation.
• Integrate the learning acquired in the different activities of the America Campus through reflection processes, both individual and collective.

The course will be delivered using an active, participatory, interdisciplinary methodology focused on critical reflection. Various teaching methods will be employed, including interactive lectures, debate-based learning, case studies and experiences, collaborative learning, and individual and group reflection exercises. One of the course's methodological cornerstones will be the integration of the Future Literacy approach promoted by UNESCO. Students will participate in activities designed to explore potential futures regarding the relationship between the University of La Laguna (ULL) and Central and South America. They will work with present-day scenarios and future perspectives, questioning current assumptions and exploring possible, plausible, and desirable futures, subsequently reflecting on the implications of these futures and on actions that could contribute to their advancement. The methodology will culminate in a final synthesis and reflection activity.

This activity is aimed at the general public interested in the relationship between the Canary Islands and the Americas, as well as, in particular, the university community, including students, teaching and research staff, and technical, management, administrative, and service personnel. Due to its interdisciplinary and open nature, the course does not require any prior specialized knowledge and is designed to facilitate the participation of individuals from diverse academic and professional backgrounds interested in issues related to education, science, culture, sustainability, international relations, and future building.
