The Cultural Classroom for Scientific Dissemination organizes this seminar which will be held online on January 15, 2026 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
This seminar explains that determining age using medical imaging techniques is fundamental in fields such as pediatrics and forensic medicine. It is based on evaluating bone and dental maturation through X-rays, and in some cases, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In children, hand X-rays are used to compare bone development with standards, while dental age is estimated by observing tooth eruption. In adults, the techniques are more complex, and variations in bones such as the femur and clavicle are analyzed. Although these methods are useful, their accuracy can vary depending on the reference population and individual conditions, so it is necessary to supplement the results with other assessments.
