The Institute of Medieval and Renaissance Studies at the University of La Laguna (IEMyR) is celebrating the 37th edition of its Course on Medieval and Renaissance Studies, this year entitled "Secondary Figures in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance." Every Tuesday throughout November, specialists from the IEMyR's various fields of expertise—from history and English studies to Spanish literature, Francophone studies, art history, and Arabic and Islamic studies—will present papers on topics, figures, and subjects from the past that have traditionally been considered secondary or marginal elements, but which are essential for understanding a historical period as rich, complex, and fascinating as the Middle Ages and the beginning of the Modern Era.
