Conference: The Social Economy as a tool for local development in the municipalities of the Canary Islands

February 27 - 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

The Cajasiete Chair of Social and Cooperative Economy (CESCO) is organizing this conference, which will be held in the Lecture Hall of the Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism on February 27, 2026, from 12:00 to 14:00.

The purpose of this event is to publicly present the project in its initial development phase, share the methodological approach adopted, and advance some provisional results of the fieldwork already carried out, highlighting the importance of the social economy as a strategic instrument for local development from the municipal level.

The meeting is conceived as a space for reflection and dialogue between the academic field, local public administrations and agents linked to the social economy.

Furthermore, the event reflects the research team's express desire to publicize the project to the Canary Islands society, promote knowledge transfer, and contribute to the development of more effective public policies, adapted to the territorial and social reality of each municipality.

● Present the research project, its theoretical framework and territorial scope.
● Summarize the methodology used for the development of public policies aimed at local government.
● Present the initial results of the analysis of the municipalities participating in the project.
