ZONE 2. THERMOSCLEROPHYLLOUS FOREST (JABINAR)

This plot of land aims to recreate the Thermophilic Forest, considered the most degraded of the vegetation zones in the Canary Islands. This type of forest can be found in very few places in Tenerife.

This plot has been planted primarily with Canary Island juniper, Juniperus turbinata Guss. subsp. canariensis, with the aim of recreating the Canary Island juniper woodland, a highly degraded forest in the archipelago. In this case, the junipers are being trained to twist and turn, a clear allusion to the beautiful juniper forest of La Dehesa, on the island of El Hierro.

The Canary juniper is a tree that can reach a large size, varying its forms from an umbrella-shaped or rounded-crowned tree to the most twisted ones due to the impact of the trade winds.
