This plot has been selected to create a representation of the wettest forest in the Canary Islands, the laurel forest. An irrigation system has been installed on this plot to ensure the necessary water for the plants cultivated here.

Because the forest is always humid due to the trade winds, which guarantee moisture throughout the year and especially during the warmer months, the trees that inhabit this area are characterized by their large leaves and, with rare exceptions like the elder, are evergreen. In this regard, we must mention both the Canary heath (Erica canariensis Rivas-Mart., M. Osorio & Wildpret) and the yew (Erica platycodon (Webb & Berthel.) Rivas-Mart. & al.) for the unique shape of their leaves, which are small needles, making them one of the best forms for capturing horizontal rainfall.

Some herbaceous species in this area take a break during the summer, sleeping underground until autumn (e.g., bicácaro, flor de mayo, morgallana,…).

Currently, the representations of Monteverde in La Graciosa, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura are relicts, and practically testimonials of what must have been a forest in remote, or non-existent, times.
