First International Congress "Thinking about Queer"«

January 29 - January 31

From January 29 to 31, 2026, the 1st International Congress “Thinking about Queer: Masculinities and Sexual Dissidences” will take place in the Elías Serra Rafols Classroom, the Geography and History building, the old Santo Domingo convent, and the San Cristóbal de La Laguna City Hall.

Through this initiative, the University of La Laguna reinforces its commitment to research, culture and critical thinking about diversity, promoting a space for transdisciplinary dialogue that addresses masculinities, artistic representation and the multiple expressions of sexual dissidence.

The meeting, organized by the Research Group “Art, Fashion and Identity (a+m+d)” of the Department of Art History and Philosophy, will have the collaboration of the San Cristóbal de La Laguna City Council and will bring together national and international specialists who will reflect on the cultural construction of the body, identity and power from contemporary and queer perspectives.

The congress will include presentations, panel discussions, and parallel activities designed to promote academic exchange and the visibility of emerging research on art, queer theory, and gender studies.
