Book Day 2026

April 23 - 9:00 am - 8:00 pm

This year the Humanities Library will celebrate Book Day in a dynamic and interdisciplinary way, through an interpretation of different literary texts by combining recitation and dance.

Today's events are part of the project 'Book Days: A Year to Inhabit the Word,' an initiative that invites the university community and society at large to celebrate reading as a space for encounter, reflection, and collective action. Throughout 2026, to mark the centenary of the official establishment of Book Day on April 23, the project will promote academic and cultural activities that strengthen dialogue, critical thinking, and the connection to written culture. Because reading is not just an individual act, but an experience that unites and transforms us. Because we aspire for every day to be Book Day.

Reading is not just about turning printed lines and immersing oneself in fictional worlds. It is also about reflecting on the environment we inhabit, interpreting images, listening to music, experiencing dramatic works, or immersing oneself in cinematic narratives, as well as deciphering gestures, inhabiting spaces, and understanding silences. Above all, reading is about situating oneself in the world with a broad awareness and a critical spirit.
