ULL Debates: Our mental health

October 29 - 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Mental health is a broad phenomenon that affects many aspects of our society, which is why public universities serve as a space for the daily expression of its complexities, as well as a key player in its understanding and approach. The next edition of ULL Debates, taking place on October 29 at 9:30 a.m. in the Auditorium of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Communication, will focus on this wide-ranging topic from clinical, psychological, academic, and social perspectives.

In fact, with “Our Mental Health,” we are appealing to its general interest, which concerns all of society, far from being an isolated or sporadic issue. Furthermore, mental health is a major concern of our time, but are we aware of the magnitude of the problem? Do we know the causes or factors that endanger our mental health? Are the responses we are giving as a society adequate? What can the university contribute to society in addressing the challenges to our mental health and emotional well-being? With these and other questions in mind, a panel of experts will be formed to discuss and present diverse approaches aimed at developing concrete proposals.

The day will begin with an artistic opening by Ismael Barredo and a unique adaptation of his project "Invisibles," followed by a dynamic discussion with the participation of various members of the university community. The discussion will conclude with the opening of an art exhibition by the Painting Workshop of the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Center (Day Center, Night Unit of the Canary Islands Health Service, Psychiatry, Hospital Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria), which will remain open to the public until November 13.
